1. A very brief overview of energy sources and needs in Bay Area
2. Discuss impacts on local peoples and environment
3. To learn energy action options and make a reasonable personal action plan
a) Reduction techniques – meter readers, efficient appliances
b) Buying renewable energy – PG&E
c) Onsite production – solar / wind
OBJECTIVES:
Participants will be able to
- Describe the shortcomings and challenges of current model: unsustainable ecologically, supports oppression abroad, loss of social capital due to reliance on private transportation, and environmental degradation
- Identify available alternatives: energy efficiency, renewable energy, and localized production
- Collaborate to set goals for pursuing alternatives individually and as a group
